2004

12-29-03 8:25pm
This is the last entry of 2003. I'm lounging at home, enjoying all of the great presents and painting the family room green (not unlike this webpage actually). I don't plan to see work until January 5th, but you never know. I will try and make it down to the auto show at the DC Convention Center. Couldn't make it today unfortunately. Roof is leaking and the estimator came to check it out. Oh well. Happy New Year everyone!

12-23-03 10:42am
I haven't been at work much lately. Lots of vacation time stored up somehow. I have relegated myself to the garage for drywall, wainscot, chair rail and window casement duties. Fortunately I am almost done. Just have to plaster the ceiling, paint and enjoy it. I hate doing ceiling work. Anyway, it is Christmas Eve and I wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
12-15-03 1:38pm
This weekend 6" of snow found us, along with the rest of the Washington, D.C. area. It made for a soupy mess today as the snow melted. Better to melt than have to shovel.
12-8-03 4:40pm
Behold the power of FARK. Server is maxing out alloted bandwidth today causing slow response times.
12-1-03 4:15pm
Nothing going on. Slow news day. We hammered out our vacation plans for May/June - headed to Myrtle Beach for the week in luxury suites with some good friends. Should be a blast.
11-25-03 4:14pm
Everything is slowing down here at work, and it is freezing. First ice on the roads this morning. I used to love the winter when I was little. Not anymore.

Wrapped up the inside of the Shed this weekend with some shelving for gardening. Sometime this spring I can run power and be completely finished.

11-12-03 2:01pm
Spending lots of time in the shed lately. Now have it insulated and pegboarded 50%. Tools are hung and some shelves have been built and filled. Electric is run and terminated. The outside gravel is only 50% complete - weather has not been cooperating.

Just found out I am headed to New Orleans for a boat show the beginning of December. Sounds like a good time to swing over to Biloxi and see my brother and family. Won't be any closer for quite a while.

11-2-03 11:18am
Lots of running around this weekend. Rhonda's parents got a new dog, a little tiny mix breed lap dog. I took a short video so you can see how much energy she has. While over at the in-laws, I also got a good close up of a trash can fly. I was impressed enough to put the picture in my desktops and screensaver slideshow area.

Our friends picked up a y2k Mercedes SLK. We traded test drives with them on the Thunderbird. We really like the hard top that stores in the trunk, but there really is no trunk room with it stored. Beautiful car.

10-31-03 1:19pm
Happy Halloween. Tonight we carve the sacraficial pumpkin and squash, leaving their guts strewn across the walkway. Some neighbors have been egged recently. They also had some asshat shoot at their house with a BB gun, breaking out a car window and denting a steel door. The cops are on the lookout. I have a feeling it might be one of the obnoxious little teens with nothing to do. We had a neighbor toss her cigarette butt in our driveway as I was standing there. I haven't tracked her down yet. Very rude. Oh well.
10-28-03 3:17pm
Some Asshat has barricaded himself in his home across the street from my office. The Fairfax County Police have blockaded the streets but are not providing any traffic control at the lights. The evening commute will be mayhem.
10-28-03 10:16am
Halloween is coming. Wanna see something really scary? This is a real rat in front of my house. It scared my son right out of his skin. Oops, I wasn't supposed to mention the baby. We have to keep him locked in the basement. He used to crawl out of the attic, and then there was ... some unpleasentness with the social worker. She won't be bothering us any more though. Come to think of it, she won't be bothering anyone anymore. Mwahahaha.
10-27-03 10:47am
Picked up a new Canon PowerShot S400 digital camera Sunday. It takes beautiful pictures at very high resolution (4MP). I also looked at 5 and 6MP cameras, but this will print superfine up to 8.5x11 which is more than I need.

Caught Kill Bill V.1 Sunday night. After the starting credits, it was action right up to the end. Gore so horrible it was funny. I enjoyed it.

10-21-03 4:02pm
I am back from Daytona and Biketoberfest. Company sent me down for an antenna install and it happened to coincide with the bike rally. Interesting. I took one picture that basically covered the area - a nice line of bikes at Corbin and thousands of trailers used to haul the bikes down to Florida. I understand when you have a family and want them along you might trailer your bikes. But otherwise, come-on. Ride them.

Still waiting on my generator to show up. Talked with toolbarn.com and they informed me that Porter-Cable is having a hard time getting their Briggs and Stratton engines for the Model BSI550-W and may not be caught up until the end of the year. This after giving me a three week ship date. Get with the program Porter-Cable!

The shed showed up last Thursday and I am trying to level it this week. Federal Concrete sank two of the anchors two low, so I have to raise the shed up with a jack and brace it with concrete pads. Aside from that and moving a couple of trees, I'm ready to start using it.

10-10-03 2:49pm
The concrete is now in place for the shed foundation, and the shed will be delivered 10-16. It may seem stupid to be excited about the shed, but this opens up a lot of room in the garage so I can prep and paint the floor and maybe even squeeze the extra car in there with the bike and Thunderbird. Or an extra bike ;-) I'll have a ball walling and insulating the shed getting everything exactly like I want it. And the canoe will now have a home in the rafters. Yea!

Not much else has been going on lately. No more short notice trips to Norfolk. Possibly a trip to Cali and Florida in the next two weeks. We shall see.

Every day has been like Christmas coming home. Ordered a bunch of stuff on eBay and assorted online stores. Yesterday the K&N filters for the truck and Thunderbird arrived. Not sure yet how big of a gain they made. Hard to tell on big V8s that already produce over 260HP. Still waiting on a 5500 watt generator for the next power outage.

10-3-03 12:05pm
Company sent me to Norfolk again to take overhead pictures of the company yacht underway. Unfortunately the yacht was broken in dry dock and began leaking when lowered. Doh! Another long driving trip for nothing. Oh well - at least the hotel was nice. And I was able to sniff out an open linksys wireless connection on a Cox cable LAN from my hotel room. Oh, the wonders of a 200mw card and nice high gain compact antenna!

I called NOVEC again to get them to come out and mark the electric lines for the shed footers. Still no call back. I know they are ultra busy with the hurricane cleanup, but I first called them two weeks before the hurricane! Argh. The concrete guys will be here Tuesday morning to dig and pour. Then the shed can finally be delivered!

Been a busy eBay week. Sold the leather motorcycle jacket - no response from the buyer yet. Bought a truck hitch that doesn't fit and the nice seller is exchanging it for me. Also bought a 16 port video switch and the seller only had 2 8 ports left. Lucky me :-/

Geisha is getting along quite nicely so far. I let her walk around in the yard unsupervised last night. She is back to sleeping in the bed, but we still have baby gates up around the first floor and access to stairs more than once a day is denied. I took some pictures with my 35mm camera (gasp! non-digital pics?!?!) which should be back in a few days. Probably my second or third roll of film since going digital a couple of years ago. Progress....

Have I mentioned the strange Japanese obsession with the pencam? Very weird. Starting near the end of July, my site hits went from 5-6k per day to 50-55k hits per day. The culprit? Direct image downloads of the pencam.jpg current cam shot with a reference of http://www.troutman.org/Images/pencam/index.html So I changed that link to index.htm and plugged a japanese translated image that basically says 'what is your interest in the pencam?'. No response. So I firewalled off 3 /8 allocated to Japan. That killed most of the traffic, but I know that if I were to stop the block the eager little browsers would be there waiting. This concerns me because the link reference is still index.html - a page that hasn't existed for a few weeks and should no longer be cached. I have examined advanced logs and done a tcpdump, but it looks like normal browser traffic - although I can't tell what kind of browser. A portscan tells me it is a Windows PC though. Or multiples. Odd.

9-29-03 2:03pm
Just finished watching The Fanimatrix. Pretty cool. Don't download it unless you have some serious bandwidth and time. I self-limit the server's bandwidth so as to avoid any work conflicts ... and that sucker is huge.

We got back from Myrtle Beach, SC Saturday evening. Spent the night at home with the family - including Geisha who had surgery Thursday for a torn ACL. She is stuck in the middle floor for a month or so, and no stairs. She seems in good spirits. Sunday was a full day of mowing and assorted yard work culminating in a run to the dump. Dinner rounded out with a BBQ - and just like that ! the weekend is over.

I don't hate Hummer H1s, but the H2 is an ugly ass school bus vehicle. Definite FUV.

9-23-03 9:44am
Neighborhood meeting last night went pretty well. Had a great guest speaker. Then it rained cats and dogs. Traffic this morning was ridiculous with many side roads flooded. On a lighter note, I found this and enjoyed it. Company is sending me down to Myrtle Beach, SC for the week for an install. At least it is the beach!
9-19-03 3:42pm
We lost power at 10pm and spent the night carrying buckets of water to the door to keep the sump from flooding. Thanks to my company's owner Woody Wheat and his nephews Larry and Steve who came through with a generator; without which the basement would be soaked. The battery backup sump failed to produce enough pressure to work properly. I jerry rigged it to pump into a water hose but it still only managed a small dribble. Once I hooked up the generator - the sump pump took 15 minutes for the pump to clear the sump water (I think it is rated at 1500 gal/hr which works out to 375 gallons in my sump and french drains!). Hope everyone made it through safely.
9-18-03 11:14am
Eudora 6 came out. It has some advanced new junk mail filters worth checking out. Unfortunately it has a smarter ad engine. With Eudora 5.2 we could proxy filter the Eudora ads so they never showed up. The new one knows it can't get to the ads and nags you about it. I could write a script to make it think it is working, or just remove the ad proxy. I know which one is easier.
9-18-03 10:35am
Company sending us home at noon due to the hurricane. You can follow the weather pretty easily here. I'll point my pencam out the window and leave the computer running overnight for the play by play action.

I'm leaving at 11:30 to pick up the Durango check. Sold and gone. Spent the last two nights installing a new kitchen faucet. The old one had this wailing sound when the hot water was on, which prompted Rhonda to smack it, which broke the handle. The installation went pretty quickly, but one of the water supply lines kept dripping and dripping. Slowly driving me insane. I think I got a handle on it last night. I didn't have any problems installing the other bathroom faucet this weekend.

If you are looking for a laugh - check out this water tower.

9-17-03 2:35pm
The hurricane is coming. Hopefully it dies down before it gets to Washington, D.C. If not, we are ready. Some water on hand, plenty of TP and flashlights.

What is with you yellow curb parkers in strip malls? There is no end to the a-holes that park on the yellow curb near my office then spend a leisurely lunch inside the restaurant. It makes it really hard to get out of the nearby parking spots, and can bring traffic to a stop at the choke point. Idiots. Are signs and rules just up there for other people? What makes you special? It sure isn't the BMW you are driving.

9-13-03 8:58am
Stupid dog woke me up early. So here I sit surfing. Pop up ads are a menace. To combat them, I have always run a nice product called NoAds which kills windows based on their name. This is fairly effective, but can block legitimate content fairly easily. Fortunately, the latest Google Toolbar has an excellent pop up blocker. The initial versions worked o.k., this one works GREAT. Check it out.

Looks like the Durango has sold. As long as it checks out mechanically for the buyer, it leaves home on Sunday.

9-12-03 4:43pm
I have been following the pro and anti SUV threads on several discussion boards. Most recently, Slashdot. We currently own a 2000 Dodge Durango SUV, 2003 Ford F150 truck, 1997 Honda Accord, 2003 Ford Thunderbird and a 1997 Honda VFR motorcycle. That pretty much runs the range of road vehicles, excluding minivans. I'd like to take a second to discuss each one. First - the Durango SUV. I bought it in 2000 so that I could move lots of wood and landscaping materials for my 2 acre yard. I also camp and canoe, and needed a large vehicle for moving accesories. It has 4wd for winter snow, and a large cargo area for our two large dogs. It also has seating for 8 which I have used several times. I commute on gravel roads for a portion of each day, and twice a week I take an off-road shortcut. The MPG is 14/19 on average. I didn't buy it for commuting - except when the weather is bad enough NOT to ride my motorcycle. It has been an excellent choice which I have enjoyed owning. I am selling it tonight - it has been replaced by the Ford F150. The Durango couldn't handle all of the large outdoor projects I work on, nor the large indoor projects. The F150 can carry sheets of plywood and drywall sheetrock without worry. The Honda Accord is my wife's old car. It gets close to 30 MPG and serves as a commuter vehicle and new dog transport when required. It does well as a third car econobox with no frills. The Thunderbird is my wife's new commuter choice and our weekend car. It gets MPG similar to the Accord, a few MPG lower in general. It only seats two, so practicality is out the window. The motorcycle has 37k miles and is my daily/weekend rider. I get 37MPG and ride in rain but not snow. I have never had an accident, and I don't intend to - but you can't forsee everything in life.

So - I say to the pro SUV crowd that buys them for looks and class - get a minivan. They are ugly, but practical. Gas prices may prove this a necessity eventually. To the anti-SUV crowd - get a grip. This is America, land of the free. If someone wants an SUV and can afford the gas, who are you to tell them they can't have one? We all have to respect the earth and its natural resources, but take a look at the fuel burned by cruise ships - a pure luxury. We'll all be on Fuel Cells in a decade anyway. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but burning down Hummer dealerships? Free speech and thought unless you disagree with the thought, eh?

My personal opinion is that everyone should be required to ride a motorcycle (graduated CC license) for their first year of legal driving. This would teach them necessary driving survival skills enforcing defensive driving techniques they can carry forward for years to come. Too many people aren't focused on the road - be it cell phones, kids, newspapers, books, or in dash DVD players. Lets get back to the primary task at hand - driving - and we'll all get there faster and safer.

9-12-03 4:05pm
Found a plumber and a concrete contractor through the Yellow Book today. So much for trying to use the Manassas City contractor guide.

I am starting to wonder if perhaps biology plays a role in herd mentality among people. Biology tells you that people who act differently from the masses may be sick or injured. Cultures dictate what normal is and with multiculturalism, normal has a rather broad spectrum. So, by keeping with the herd and general normality, you ensure that you will not be judged as sick and possibly un-mateworthy. Why this digression? In my area, we have a lot of people with little OBX stickers in the back windows of their vehicles. Most of them look like 'Euros' - spoofs of European country designations. OBX stands for Outer Banks, NC. I became curious as to why so many people would want to express their affection for OBX in the same form. It seems to be almost a class designation, self imposed to show conformity. Or it could just be a dumb sticker.

Geisha came back from the vet in a very cranky mood. She spent the evening recovering from the procedure, and the entire night waking us up to get water and go outside. 12, 2, 4 and 6am. I can't get mad at her though - I had surgery in January, and I remember my recovery period all too well!

9-11-03 8:32pm
I am getting very frustrated with Manassas area contractors. I have called a dozen of them to get this foundation poured. All of them said they would call back in the afternoon and none of them did. I called each back every day, got the same line. Not a single call back after 4 days. I hope that once I do find one to do the work, the rest all file Ch.11.
9-11-03 4:40pm
Can't believe 9-11-01 was two years ago. Time really flies.

Today Geisha headed to the vet to have an x-ray taken of her back left leg. She started limping on it in the evenings a few weeks ago. Initial vet visit resulted in a 'sit and watch' approach. x-ray came back negative for any problems.

I just received an award for assistance in the 2003 Super Bowl and 9-11 Emergency Response efforts. A very nice gesture. The 9-11 award is actually signed by Michael Powell (FCC Chairman) as opposed to an inkstamp signature as I would expect. A frameable item.

9-10-03 5:05pm
I have reached the top of the list for SETI stats. Well, the top 20,000 anyway. Currently in the 99.573 percentile. WooHoo!

No sale on the Durango yet. Listed on Yahoo, cars.com and print ad in the Washington Post. We might just have to keep it around.

Not much else going on at the moment. Just a lot of laptop repair and prep, and another Windows RPC bug to fix. Thanks again MS!

Took me all day last Friday to move the fallen tree. 5 truckloads to the dump. Then my parents called me Saturday to cut down a dead tree in their back yard. Plenty of work for the new truck already!

9-2-03 10:21am
Apparently we lost two trees last night in a storm. Since I am in Norfolk, I don't know how bad it is. They were major privacy trees - Bradford Pears - so it pretty much sucks that they came down.
9-1-03 10:48pm
Happy Labor Day! I am back in Norfolk from Northern Virginia for another demo. This weekend the beer fridge died and we had to replace it right away. Glad I have the truck bed ;-).
8-28-03 11:00am
Pencam has live shots of the starboard side of the yacht as we cruise around the bay in Norfolk. Uplinked across TeleSea Blue satellite service. Not much to see besides water at the moment.
8-22-03 8:01pm
The shed has arrived, so has the permit. Now I need to dig 6 huge footers to tie the thing to, inspect, pour concrete, deliver, tie to the base and inspect again. Anxious to get this thing in place. At 12x24 it will add a great deal of needed storage space! Headed to the shed place tomorrow to visit it and get some pics and measurements.

Headed to Norfolk most of next week for a demo. Will spend the week on a yacht. Great job, eh?

8-18-03 11:10am
I need another weekend to recover from the weekend!
8-16-03 2:39am
Bought the F150 and Thunderbird tonight. Just got home an hour ago. Made a good deal at Ted Britt Ford. Looooong day.

For Sale : 2000 Dodge Durango SLT 4x4. 4.7L engine. Automatic. 4 wheel ABS. Limited slip rear. Flame Red. Power windows, seat, mirrors. Tan leather interior. Fold down third row seat (seats 8). 4 door plus liftgate. Single CD/Cassette/Radio with Premium sound. Rear A/C. Tinted windows. MPG: Gets 14 City 19 Highway. New tires, recent oil change, recent brake job, regular maintenance. One owner. I really like this Durango, but I just needed a truck bed. Virginia says it is worth $16,500. New MSRP was $34,000. I'll take $16,000. Comparable vehicles are selling for both less and more, but they don't have the same options. This one has everything except skid plates and a tow package.

8-15-03 5:30pm
Didn't care for the Toyotas. MR2 has no space at all and is hard to get in and out of. The Truck didn't suit me well. Back to the Ford F150 - looking for new and used models tonight.

Yesterday I had to run to Norfolk for work. Got back at 2am this morning. Both 64 and 95 had 10 mile backups due to VDOT construction blocking 2 of 3 lanes. Nightmare. I did get to see a trailor full of 2004 F150s coming from the Norfolk Ford plant while I was down there. Rhonda is hooked on the Thunderbird, so I guess we'll be looking at those again tonight!

8-13-03 10:45am
Tonight we test drive the MR2 Spyder ($25k) and Toyota Tundra ($34k). I might feel a bit weird about buying a full size non-American truck. We'll see after I drive it. I am also looking at the 2004 F150 ($33k) now. Supposedly they are rolling into the dealerships.

Added a tech resource section to the site today.

8-12-03 2:33pm
Test drove the Ford Thunderbird ($41k) and F150 Lariat ($30k) last night. Rhonda loves the T-bird. I have the salesman looking for the F150 now, and I'll be selling my Durango this week. If you are interested, the going rate is $16,500 - it is flame red, tan leather, 4.7 engine, 3rd row seat, great condition. Make me an offer.

Hold off on the T-bird for a few months and see what kind of deals are out there. Nice car though, great ride.

8-8-03 6:47pm
Day from Hell is nowhere near over. Server still down, bad SCSI controller. Waiting for tech support to arrive around 9/10pm. Yay! ALL DAY on the phone with Dell tech support. Fortunately there is some pizza in the fridge and plenty of soda ... not to mention a book and Internet access.
8-7-03 2:49pm
stunnel is pretty cool. Running it with pop3s and smtps. Very transparent.

Spent the last two days trenching the back yard for new gutter pipe. Ready to lay some pipe tonight! (cheap laugh).

8-5-03 12:33pm
Screw SCO.
8-4-03 3:00pm
What a Monday. Main server lost its RAID array controller. Three routers are down at remote nodes - one lost its image ... and two Sony VAIO laptops won't turn on anymore. Makes the 5th failed Sony laptop in two months - all a few months after their warranties ran out! Argh.

Finished painting the laundry room this weekend and put in a brand new floor to boot. Last month we installed maple cabinets that match the kitchen cabinets to tie the whole area together. Finished off the 1/4 round at 10:00 last night - full 2 days of work. The old flooring was sorry. It was old and busted. Obviously we have put down the new hotness.

7-31-03 4:45pm
Happy Birthday Dad!

Who is buying the new Murano and Honda Element? Ugliest cars on the road. Not to mention the batch of Pontiac deformities that happened a couple of years ago. I just don't get it.

What is wrong with DC area weather forecasters? Their accuracy rate is terrible. You have a 1 in 4 shot at them getting the current conditions right. This morning my local FOX outlet announced no rain until late today, more likely tonight. We go out at lunch ... and its raining. And they have the GALL to try and predict 5 days in advance!

7-30-03 11:33am
Today I went to the Zoning and building permit office of Prince William County for the shed. Unfortunately, they require 18x24 footers to keep the shed from flying away. A simple shed. Argh. Coming back from the government offices, I had a motorcycle pass me on the double yellow while I was already speeding - with a long line of cars ahead of me. I don't begrudge the pass, but he only gained a car length. Later he passed another car on a blind hill and curve. I love motorcycles, but there sure are a lot of idiots out there driving and riding.

I am now settling in to work on an employee's system that was cracked and used as an IRC bot. Script kiddie losers. It happened outside of the firewall, but it won't happen again. At least to her.

7-24-03 12:15pm
We have mice at home. I bought extra-cruel mice traps at Safeway today. Anyone remember the SNL skit for medievil roach traps? Good times, good times. Nothing else going on at the moment except beautiful weather for riding.
7-21-03 9:45am
Today I get to patch dozens of Cisco IOS images thanks to the big vulnerability released a couple of days ago. That came on the heels of the Microsoft announcement of critical importance. Yea.

I spent the weekend destroying the fence and doghouse that was overbuilt in my back yard. I have about 200 mosquito bites and a nice nail-in-the-wrist scar to prove it. Oh - and I got a 2wd truck stuck in the mud of my soupy back yard while hauling it all away. Will it ever dry out?

ADT installed most of our new sensors, but we need a bigger box to handle it all. They'll be back. Meanwhile the electrical guys did a great job rewiring the Harry Homeoowner mistakes the last guy made. Thats why I don't do much electrical.

7-16-03 2:58pm
Off for two days at home with electricians and alarm guys. I get to rent a bobcat and run gravel all over the yard for the future shed. Looking forward to that actually.

Today is RIDE TO WORK DAY and I rode in on the motorcycle as usual. 4 people tried to run me off the road, which never ever happens normally. And a little woman u-turned on a 6 lane road (West Ox at the jail) in front of a wall of cars causing much chaos. Good times, good times.

7-15-03 4:48pm
Flooded eBay with the rest of my stuff found in the basement. Tons of late 60s and early 70s football cards. Good stuff. Headed to Costco for more junk this evening. Never ending cycle.

Is this the summer of 'Idiot Parents Lock Kids In Hot SUV' or what? I have to tell you - I hate you people that leave your dogs in the car on a hot day with the window cracked. Did you know on a cool day your car can get up to 120 degrees? Babies in high humidity can die in as little as 10 minutes. Leave your dog at home, and take your kids into the store!

Oh - MS IE6 has a nice simple vulnerability. This link will lock up your browser. It goes to c:\aux. Pretty simple and odd.

7-12-03 5:52pm
Garage sale went pretty well. Sold $75 worth of junk. Still have some hot items left over, which you can find in my eBay list. Buy it up!

After the sale, we headed to the shed store and ordered a really nice 12x24 outbuilding for the various farm implements required to care for the lawn. Should arrive in September. Hope it stops raining before then. The ground was too mushy for the landscape guys to move 4 Cherry trees from the old dog pen. I would like to keep them alive ;-)

7-11-03 10:20am
This morning we found a pool of water in the carpet by the french doors after heavy rain last night. I guess the bottom seal is broken. The lightning was pretty wild last night. No tree damage that I could see. I think it affected our garage door remote - as the door won't stay down now. Hopefully all of our crap is still there when I get home tonight.

This evening we will be hanging garage sale signs for the community garage/yard sale on Saturday (7am? I never get up that early). Perfect opportunity for you to come by and pick up some of my unwanted junk. I have great leftover bachelor stuff - Onkyo 6 cd changer, microwave, Toshiba VCR, single disc CD player, skis-boots and a whole lot more. Most of it will probably end up at Goodwill.

My brother (Brad) is driving to Maine from Biloxi, Mississippi with his 4 boys and wife on vacation. He is a pediatric cardiologist - retired Air Force. Along the way he is stopping by Northern Virginia to see the family. That would be this Sunday.

I just did a google for blahg and realized how completely unoriginal my thought was. Sigh.

7-10-03 4:01pm
My wife (Rhonda) just called to harass me about the new site. Apparently she realized I had not added .shtml to my mime types file, so her ancient copy of Netscape 4.7 was failing to load the new page. She let me flounder around a bit trying to rectify the problem. Silly girl. Actually, she doesn't know what a mime type is, but that has nothing to do with this.

Internet Week quoted me in a recent article about SCO vs Linux. Yay for me.

7-10-03 2:35pm
The cutover to the new site is complete now. Most of the old content is still here, and all of the search functionality is working. You may find a page or two with black backgrounds and missing images here and there. If you do, please let me know.

I'll be using this space for any future rants and raves. Not a weblog really - more of a blah log. Hence the name - blahg. Get it?

7-10-03 12:08pm
So - what do you think of the new site format? Thought I would mix it up a bit. I had a ton of deadwood floating around. Too much bloat. This is the slimline troutman.org.
